The Perfect Fit
Bride’s Corner
You’ve found ‘the one’. The dress that you’ve been looking for – it matches your personality and your style but this is just the beginning because it has to perfectly fit your body too!
Most brides underestimate the importance of the perfect fit. When fitted correctly, you’ll look fantastic and the dress will bring out your best attributes while hiding a multitude of sins. There is nothing worse than when a gorgeous dress and a gorgeous woman don’t look right together because something is ‘off’. And this has nothing to do with whether you’re petite or plus-size. An improperly-fitted dress will gape on the sides or sag around the hip on any size bride.
Wearing a perfectly fitting gown on your wedding day will not only make you feel comfortable, but it will give you a boost of confidence in your appearance. When a dress is properly fitted to your body it raises the glamour quotient of the garment. One thing you will definitely want to be on your special day is confident. All eyes are going to be on you and you should absolutely radiate confidence.
There are several unforeseen mishaps that can occur when you wear an oversize dress or one that is too long. One issue is the dress, which may be relatively heavy as dresses go, might want to slip down all day if it is too big for you. Getting the dress altered to fit you perfectly will secure it in place and save you the embarrassment of constantly adjusting it because it feels like it’s falling off. You also want to be sure that you aren’t showing too much cleavage from the sides in a dress that is too large for you. Plus, you could simply trip on the excess material if the dress is too long.
This is why it is crucial for you to take the time to do your fittings after you have bought your dress. Our name is on your gown, so to speak. We want you to look your absolute best.
Here is guide on what you can do to ensure the perfect fit:
1. Wear the shoes and undergarments you plan on wearing on the day.
2. Walk around and see whether you can move comfortably in your gown. Make sure that your gown stays in one place as you move and that there is no there is no obvious wrinkling, bunching or pulling of material. You should sit down in the dress too.
3. For your final fitting, bring all of your accessories including your jewellery. Salomie will also fit your custom veil so that you can see how it all looks together. That way you still have time to change something on the dress or with your accessories if something does not work.
4. Bring mom and Maid of Honour to your final fitting so they can learn about your gown – how to work with complicated straps, lace ups and buttons, how to bustle it etc. You should also find out how to get rid of last-minute wrinkles.
